The 12th International Congress on Materials  was held  at the University of Medellín on September 25, 26 and 27. Sebastián Ramírez Gómez, a student of the Physics Engineering program, participated in this event, which is held every two years, presenting an oral presentation entitled “ First-principle calculations of hydrogen adsorption on silicene and germanene doped with Sn, V, Ti, Zn and Cu, and decorated with K, Li, and Mg .” Sebastián shared the results of his research work, which he is carrying out in the research group on computational modeling and simulation – GIMOSIC.

These types of events are of great relevance, as they encourage the creation of networks between academics from different universities, facilitate the socialization of academic topics and allow us to learn about the most recent advances in research within the scientific community. In addition, it is worth noting that Sebastián was invited to carry out a research internship by the Materials Theory Group, at Yonsei University, South Korea, during the months of March and April 2025.
