He is currently a PhD candidate in Physics at the National University of Colombia, where his research focuses on DFT simulations of nanostructures based on III-V semiconductor for solar cell applications. Driven by a passion for computational materials science, he founded a research group focused on computational modeling and simulation in 2020. In 2022, he expanded his research experience through an academic internship at the Institute of Physics of La Plata (Argentina). His research interests include understanding the electronic, optical, magnetic, and vibrational properties of solids and molecules to design materials with optimal characteristics for diverse technological applications. He employs DFT calculations to explore the underlying physics of these properties. His work extends to investigating heterojunctions, hydrogen adsorption in various materials, and the unique properties of two-dimensional materials, aiming to uncover their potential for cutting-edge applications in energy, electronics, and nanotechnology. Beyond research, he is passionate about fostering the next generation of scientists and engineers through teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, providing them with hands-on research opportunities and equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge for successful careers in materials science and physics.
